  BETHELITES - Whatever Became of?

  i often times wonder what happened to certain bethelites that i ran around with during my 1990s tenure there.

  while there are still a few left there, the greater majority of them aren't there for various reasons (marriage, disillusionment, left the borg, etc).

  a couple of cats i wonder about - there was one brother who i believe was from kansas, who got his fingers cut off in a printing press.

  Does anyone remember or know a Krista Habager who married Dave from Bethel in the late 1980's? He is tall with dark hair and pock marks on his face.

  what jw beliefs did you make up for your own sanity?.

  for me it was regarding the flood.

  instead of believing that god had destroyed millions of people, i imagined that because of all the violence, by the time the flood came, the only people besides noah and his family that were still alive were the nephilim.

  Kensei, Yes exactly! That is the logical thing to have expected. I think the difference between a bad person dying of a heart attack and dying in A is one is devine execution and the other isn't. There is not supposed to be a resurrection of people who died by devine execution. Therefore, only bad guys with heart attacks and such get a resurrection EXCEPT for the unforgivable sin, which the WTS has never EVER clarified.

  what jw beliefs did you make up for your own sanity?.

  After suffering a bad marriage, I came to realise that Jehovah really didn't expect anyone to suffer for his reputation needlessly. You know, like stay in a horrible marriage for the sake of the truth. No, I believed that since he was a loving god that he didn't expect me to suffer. It would not be just to expect that. I quit believing that anyone had to be a martyr. Also, if life is sooooo sacred, then saving it at any cost is the logical thing to do. Blood transfusions would be OK and lying to stay alive would be OK, too. Those were contradictions that I found hard to believe: saving your most sacred life with blood will get you eternal distruction??? Ummm...no.

  I used to think that I was of the annointed when I was a teenager. I loved the idea of being a spirit that could go anywhere, fly, and hover. Now I hope I turn into a ghost when I die although I believe in reincarnation a bit.

  If Adam did not sin, would humans have lived forever on earth?

  the new testament talks consistently of a heavenly hope, not an earthly one and the idea that humans are to live forever on earth is not supported scripturally at all.. however, what would have happened if adam and eve had not sinned.

  the watchtower likes to make the point that it is only sin that caused adam and eve to die.

  romans 5:12 that is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned.. what do christians believe regarding this scripture?

  I think the psalmists, Job, and John were on LSD when they were writing their books. Revelation is WILD! No getting around it, Revelation was definately a halucination while the psalmists were probably smoking weed and getting all enlightened.

  The meek shall inherit the earth. In that same scripture, it says that they will also inherit the heavens and a bunch of other stuff. There is no separate designation for some and for others.

  JW's would say that Jehovah chose not to know certain things. Why did he have to send angels to Soddom and Gamorah to see if the rumors of badness were true??? Why could he not forsee the fall of Adam and Eve??? Makes no sense whatsoever.

  this is an idea that really freaked me out when i was still "in".

  i asked it several times in groups of friends, and i would get two reactions: confusion/not understanding, and silence/looking at the ground.

  if you die, and your body disinegrates, and the soul doesnt live on; in fact, nothing lives on, then what is resurrected?

  Which bad memories? We learn from ALL of our memories. Some we would like to forget, but we need most of our memories, good and bad. And who's to say which ones are bad and which are good for us?

  After reading about reincarnation, a light went on. The resurrection never made sense to me. But what about animal souls? They are life just as we are. Shouldn't they also live again after death and move on into another life and lesson? Could animals living now become humans in a later life? Hmmm...
